Solo performer Mike Daisey will bring back his critically acclaimed show, The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs to Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, July 17-August 5. Jean-Michele Gregory directs the production.

The monologue mixes in autobiography and a capsule biography of recently deceased Apple founder Steve Jobs with a hard-hitting look at the appalling child labor conditions that make possible the mass production of the technological devices that we rely upon so heavily.

The piece was first performed in the summer of 2010 at Woolly Mammoth and returned for its DC premiere in spring 2011. Since then, it has toured to 18 cities and been seen by over 75,000 people, including two runs Off-Broadway at the Public Theater.

Among Daisey’s previous solo shows are If You See Something Say Something, The Last Cargo Cult, How Theater Failed America, 21 Dog Years, Invincible Summer, I Miss the Cold War, and Great Men of Genius.
