Beaches Musical Releases Sample From Its World Premiere Score

The new musical adaptation of the popular 1985 novel and subsequent 1988 film Beaches has released one of the songs from the upcoming world premiere production. The musical will open soon at Arlignton, Virginia's Signature Theatre.

Beaches follows two women, Cee Cee Bloom and Bertie White (played by Alysha Umphress and Mari Davi, respectively), through a 30-year friendship that withstands many trying experiences. With music by David Austin and lyrics by the story's original author Iris Rainer Dart, the song "Extraordinary" reveals the two women as they grow up together and encourage each other toward success.
Performances will run at the Signature Theatre from February 18-March 23.
