Lynda Carter has been added to the Virginia Arts Festival Line Up, and will appear at the Williamsburg Lodge on May 29 in two cabaret performances. She replaces the previously reported Jane Krakowski, who has withdrawn as she is expecting a baby later this spring.

The Virginia Arts Festival’s 15th anniversary season — to include performances and special events over 50 days in nine cities including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Williamsburg — will run April 12-May 30.

The centerpiece of the festival is composer Ricky Ian Gordon and librettist/lyricist Mark Campbell’s world premiere of their new music theater work, Rappahannock County, at the Harrison Opera House in Norfolk, Virginia, April 12-17. Written to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, the piece is inspired by real diaries, letters, and personal accounts from the period.

Highlights also include violinist Joshua Bell (Chrysler Hall, Norfolk, April 23); Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (Chrysler Hall, Norfolk, May 13-15); and Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus performed by the Chautauqua Theater Company with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under the direction of Vivienne Benesch and JoAnn Falletta (Chrysler Hall, Norfolk, May 20 & 22).

Performers and events will also include Grammy Award-winner Shawn Colvin, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Cuba’s Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, jazz legends Chick Corea & Gary Burton, swing masters Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Virginia International Tattoo, the Flying PROMS: Symphonic Airshow Spectacular, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and more.
