Volleyball Pros Prepare Broadway’s Susan Blackwell for Her Role in NYMF’s Volleygirls

What do you do when you play a high school volleyball coach in a NYMF musical but you know nothing about volleyball?

You train with professionals, of course. Which is exactly what Susan Blackwell has to do in the upcoming show Volleygirls, opening July 15 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. TheaterMania sought some coaching for Susan from NYC Juniors, New York City’s premiere volleyball club, where she could dig a little deeper into her character. Thanks to these talented girls, Susan is now able to go on stage with confidence about the sporty subject matter central to the musical.
