Tick, Tick…Boom! Stars Nick Blaemire, Ciara Renée, and George Salazar on Jonathan Larson's Legacy

Keen Company revives a musical by the creator of Rent.

When Jonathan Larson died in 1996, he left behind a treasure trove of musical theater, including Rent, which premiered that year, as well as a solo musical called Tick, Tick…Boom!, which he began performing in 1990. After his death, the playwright David Auburn restructured the piece as a three-character work, which premiered off-Broadway in 2001. Now, it's receiving its first-ever major New York revival, a presentation of Keen Company starring Broadway vets Nick Blaemire, Ciara Renée, and George Salazar. At a recent rehearsal, the central trio invited TheaterMania into the mind of the show's iconic creator and gave a glimpse of things to come.
