The Cast of Doctor Zhivago Parties Like It's 1917 on Its Broadway Opening Night

The classic novel makes its official Broadway debut.

Doctor Zhivago celebrated its official Broadway opening last night at the Broadway Theatre with proper revolutionary pomp and circumstance. Tam Mutu and Kelli Barrett bring the epic romance of Lara Guishar and Yurii Zhivago to the stage — a classic pairing made famous by novelist Boris Pasternak. After the cast took their opening-night bows, TheaterMania spoke with the stars of the new musical, along with its director Des McAnuff and composer Lucy Simon. The journey to Broadway has been nearly as trying as Yurii's escape to Yuriatin, but all agree it's been worth the effort.
