The cast of Deaf West's upcoming Broadway revival of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's Spring Awakening is hard at work taking another look at the beloved musical through a new lens. But during a recent press event the performers and creatives ― including original Broadway cast member Krysta Rodriguez and original first national tour star Andy Mientus ― took time to explain just what makes Deaf West's revival unique. According to the show's creators, it's a fulfillment of the purpose of Frank Wedekind's original 1891 play, while Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin says it's about bringing people together.
