Meet George Takei and the Cast of Broadway's Allegiance

Tony winner Lea Salonga leads the cast of the historical musical.

George Takei, who was a resident of a Japanese internment camp as a child, brings this tragic period of American history to life in his brand-new musical Allegiance, featuring an original score by Jay Kuo. Takei makes his Broadway debut alongside stage veterans Telly Leung, Katie Rose Clarke, and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga at the Longacre Theatre where the production is now in performances. TheaterMania chatted with Takei and his fellow castmates about the musical, which explores the period of Japanese internment through the hopeful story of the Kimuras — a family of Japanese-Americans who, from a moment of political and personal despair, find hope and joy.
