LaChanze, Carly Hughes, and More Give Us a Soulful Preview of Cabin in the Sky

Ruben Santiago-Hudson directs the 1940 musical for New York City Center Encores!

New York City Center Encores! is opening its 2016 season with a true musical rarity: a revival of the infrequently seen 1940 tuner Cabin in the Sky. With a score by Vernon Duke and John Latouche, and a book by Lynn Root, the work hasn't been seen on Broadway since. But now, it's back in the Big Apple, in a production directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson and a cast that includes the likes of Norm Lewis, LaChanze, Chuck Cooper, and Carly Hughes. Here, Hughes performs the lovely "Honey in the Honeycomb" and Tony winner LaChanze (joined by Michael Potts and the ensemble) takes on the beautiful title number.
