Joel Grey Makes a Surprise Appearance in Hey, Look Me Over!

The Broadway legend joins Clyde Alves in revisiting a famous number in the Encores! revue.

Audiences who attended the Encores! 25th-anniversary season opener, Hey, Look Me Over!, at New York City Center on February 6 were treated to a special surprise: an uncredited appearance by none other than Broadway legend Joel Grey, assisting Clyde Alves in performing George M. Cohan's "Give My Regards to Broadway" at the show's close. The cameo was no mere whim of stunt casting. Grey originated the role of Cohan in George M!, one of the shows featured in this revue of numbers from all-but-forgotten Broadway musicals. Check out Grey, Alves, and the rest of the company belting and strutting in the video above.
