In The Pirates of Penzance, Will Swenson Is a Pirate King

…And it is it is a glorious thing.

The songs of Gilbert & Sullivan are lighting up the Berkshires, where a new version of the classic operetta The Pirates of Penzance is beginning a run at Barrington Stage Company. Directed by Tony winner John Rando, the starry cast includes Broadway favorites like Will Swenson and Kyle Dean Massey, alongside veteran West End star Scarlett Strallen. At a press junket, Swenson sang the recognizable Gilbert & Sullivan tune "Oh, Better Far to Live and Die," and he proves all of the number's lyrics true. Not only is it a glorious thing to see him as a Pirate King, but we have to shout "hurrah," as well.
