I Hope I Get It: Stories From the Audition Room With Steven Pasquale

Pasquale never forgets…or forgives.

Broadway had not been formally introduced to Steven Pasquale's iron lungs until his 2014 run in The Bridges of Madison County. While his indefatigable tenor filled the Schoenfeld Theatre with hour-long high notes, audiences wondered why the TV actor ever bothered doing anything but musicals. Perhaps it's because of a director who expressed disdain for Pasquale's magical vocal cords — among other things — during a particularly unpleasant audition. It's a moment that's stayed with Pasquale for years, but thankfully now, it's only one man's loss.
