Cush Jumbo Is on Her Own in Her Solo Show Josephine & I at The Public Theater

After starring with Hugh Jackman on Broadway, Jumbo returns to an early love: Josephine Baker.

British actress Cush Jumbo will make her third foray onto the New York stage when she begins performances in her solo show Josephine & I later this month at The Public Theater. Previously, Jumbo played Roman general Mark Antony in Phyllida Lloyd's production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar in 2013at St. Ann's Warehouse, and earlier this year she made her Broadway debut opposite Hugh Jackman in The River. The versatile actress is now going in a completely different (and more personal) direction, starring in her own play about her childhood hero: legendary performer Josephine Baker.
