Clifford Odets’ American Classic The Big Knife Takes a Slice Out of Old Glamorous Hollywood

The Big Knife's Chip Zien talks about bringing both the grime and the glamour of old Hollywood to the Broadway stage. Zien costars as Nat Danziger, agent of film star Charlie Castle (Bobby Cannavale) who tries to escape his studio’s suffocating grasp. He describes the play's historical look at the Hollywood studio system as well as its larger investigation of the "corporate underbelly" that is still alive and well. TheaterMania caught up with audience members who reflected on the play's timeless themes of idealism, greed, and the irreversible consequences of the choices we make.
