Broadway and Celebrity Besties Worship Star Carolee Carmello at Kathie Lee Gifford's Scandalous Opening

Liza Minnelli (on a date with Hoda Kotb!), Kris Jenner, Lillias White, and NBC all-stars Matt Lauer and Al Roker were the first on the scene at the starry opening night of Kathie Lee Gifford's "baby," better known as the new musical Scandalous. Based on the sensational real life of evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, the show stars Broadway favorite Carolee Carmello in a breakout performance as McPherson, two-time Tony Award winner George Hearn in dual roles, and all-belting diva Roz Ryan as a cathouse madam turned pious devotee. Gifford didn't just bring the story of McPherson to light--with Scandalous, she makes her Broadway debut as a book writer and lyricist, teaming up with composers David Pomeranz and David Friedman, as well as director David Armstrong. Celebrity surprises, Kathie Lee's writing secrets, and some much-deserved acclaim for superstar Carolee herself. If there's one opening night party to drop in on this season, this is it.
