Alan Menken, Chad Beguelin, Harvey Fierstein, and More Talk Wishes and Genies on Aladdin's Opening-Night Red Carpet

Jasmine (Courtney Reed), Genie (James Monroe Iglehart), and Aladdin himself (Adam Jacobs) reflect on watching the classic movie as children.

More than two decades after the release of Disney's beloved cartoon version of Aladdin, everyone's favorite human/genie duo has finally made it to the Broadway stage. The production opened last night at the New Amsterdam Theatre with a glitzy, purple-carpet event and an after-party at New York's Gotham Hall. Aladdin's whole colorful cast, including Courtney Reed (Jasmine), James Monroe Iglehart (Genie), Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), and Jonathan Freeman (Jafar in both the new show and the iconic film), came out to celebrate their first magic carpet ride on Broadway.
