Anarchist is GARBAGE
UGH!!!! Garbage. First off, the show is 75 minutes - Not 90 as advertised. I'm personally grateful for that fact although it would've been better and a lot less painful had it been 15 minutes. The worst show I've ever seen (I've seen over 1000 shows too) and not even close to being fit to be called a Broadway show. Do not waste your time or money on this bomb. Mamet's writing is nothing more than big ego pontificating to hear itself blah blah blah. This work should have been an essay, not a play. I felt so sorry for Ms LuPone and Ms Winger, trapped in hell for 75 minutes. The story is boring, very very very very hard not to fall asleep. Boring, nothing happens, uninteresting characters. And on top of it, miscast. Winger should have been the Anarchist and LuPone should have been the lawyer. Would've at least been more believable. I can't say enough negative things about this show. I had a deeply discounted ticket and still want my money back! Gave the show one star because I could not give it what it deserves, which is No Stars. The best thing about this show is the Golden theatre is a nice theatre! Unfortunately that, nor the two wasted remarkable actors in this show cannot save it from what will be a miserable death. It belongs in the garbage.

Good Arty Interpretation of MacBeth
Saw this MacBeth @ Lincoln Center Festival last summer. Really good production, clever interpretation, interesting, dramatic, engaging storytelling. I really liked it. I wouldn't pay Broadway prices, but I'd see it on a 50% discount and be happy that I did.

I LOVED Kinky Boots!
Saw a preview performance of Kinky Boots last evening, with 2 friends, and we were all very very very happy we went! The show was great! The music was wonderful, and the book was fabulous! Harvey - We laughed our behinds off!!! I am looking forward to the cast recording which I will definately be purchasing. Congratulations to Cyndi and Harvey on their B'way collaboration!!!! I think this show will win theatre goer's hearts. The story was really great, all the actors were superb, the direction and the sets were great. I will tell you now, Billy Porter is in serious contention for the Tony for best Actor in a Musical and Anne Leigh Ashford also should be nominated for Best supporting actress in a musical. These two give the kind of performances you remember for a long time. Kinky Boots is a fun story with a few good life lessons performed with love, passion and exuberance! What more could you ask for? An amazing finale? A happy ending? Kinky Boots - You got it! I go to the theater regularly and with Broadway being very expensive these days, even on discount, we must be choosy as to what we see, and I have no problem recommending that you choose Kinky Boots!!!! PS - l also loved all the Kinky Boots, they were fierce!!!!

I was hoping to see a great production of Romeo and Juliet and I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. The Cast is great. There's some very good performances here, and both Bloom & Rashad are good, with some great moments. The actor playing Mercurcio and the actress playing the nurse do a great job. All the others are quite good too. The problem is the direction and the staging. I'm sorry but its awful. They sort of made it a modern production in some sort of modern time, but they never really fully go for it so its sort of modern and sort of not. That doesnt work. The sets are lame. The have real fire on the stage quite a few times and its interesting for about 30 seconds. If its supposed to be symbolic of the fire in the story or the romance, that doesnt work either. The motorcycle doent make it modern or work either because Romeo just doesnt make it as a biker type. The stage never seems intimate during the intimate scenes, a bummer for R & J, and more often than not the actors a left on a sprawling sparsely decorated stage, looking lost. That leads to a loss of tension and fire dispite the pyrotechnics. The costumes are as lame as the sets. The direction is terrible, and I think, its surprising coming from a 5 time Tony nominated director. I'm not sure what their concept was supposed to but I think the director, the set designer and costumer were all on vacation phoning it all in to an unprofessional production team. I really love productions with minimal sets and good lighting w / decent costumes and staging that allow the actors to shine. I like when Shakes is done modern and done right. This production doesn't do it. Listless comes to mind. Finally, the fight scenes where Mercurcio and Tybolt are killed was really amatuerish. Also the Capulet party was poorly costumed and choreographed. One last thing, who's bright idea was it to have Juliet wear what looked like pajamas to her wedding to Romeo? Do you honestly think Juliet would've worn that? To marry Romeo? I'm so glad I got a cheap ticket. If you want to see this for Bloom and Rashad, you will probably enjoy their performances for the most part, but if you're going to see a good production of Romeo and Juilet, look elsewhere.

Excellent! Brilliant! Amazing!
I have been looking forward to seeing this musical for quite awhile. I loved loved loved the movie, and couldn't imagine how they might stage this story for Broadway. I was full of expectation and was I not only surprised how good this show is, I was blown away. I'm not going into a lot of detail here, because you have to see it for yourself. I will say that this show has all the magic that makes theatre goer's love the theatre. You can see why Susan keeps winning Tony's, and I'll bet you she just won another one. Norbert may have another too and Kate may be joining them at the podium next year. The writing, staging, direction, dancing, singing, acting, are all superior and I complain about the price of Broadway tickets, and most of the time, shows aren't worth the price, but Big Fish definately is. It's this season's Kinky Boots. Wonderful theatre. You will Oooo and Ahhhh, you'll gasp! Laugh a lot, and if you're a human being, you'll shed some tears too! Congratutions you guys and gals, you got a big hit!!!!!! I've already got tickets to see it again!
