Riveting and Masterful
"Master Class" is exactly that - masterful and classy! Tyne Daly is riveting, mesmerizing, and... well, how many superlatives can I use? The narrative gives a nice insight into the post-performing life of Maria Callas without getting petty or delving into minutia. Its a glimpse of a woman who seems to have found a niche while still searching. And Ms. Daly looks fantastic! The rest of the cast, though secondary in some ways, is made up of a group of extremely talented individuals. They can act and, oh, can they sing!! They can also hold their own. The production, which has several of the characters singing in the background while Ms. Callas relates her lifes stories, is creative and very effective. What else can I say?? It was a truly marvelous play.
