RE:Flat Footed
Probably one of the most incoherent, badly written and worse directed plays of the decade. Is Susan Charlotte really drawing parallels between The Holocaust and 9/11? What is the rationale for anyones behavior here? Danny Aiello careens between incoherent mumbling and incoherent bellowing. This rudderless play is simply appalling. Keep walking.

Waste of Time and Money
Valerie Harper is wonderful, though painfully limited, but what a terrible play. The play goes nowhere, says nothing, relies on overly conventional stuff about closeted gays and is ultimately a crashing bore. Harpers drag-queen-style impersonation of Tallulah is good for about ten minutes, but since theres really no play here its all about attitude and camp. No surprise the house was only about 3/4 full on a Friday night.

RE:Oh No!
This heartfelt and sincere musical has been decimated by Terry Johnsons, immature cynical homophobic direction that once again makes gay people insubstantial, laughable clowns to play to the presumed biases of the contemporary Broadway audience. Kelsey Grammer hasnt the voice or the substance for Georges and Douglas Hodges Albin is never more than superficial. What Hodge cant sing, he mugs in an embarrassing performance. Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Herman should be humiliated by what has been done to their great and clever use of the musical to advance awareness in the culture at large. Of course, they are making money from it...

RE:Strained and Difficult
This clumsy script is filled with would-be zingers, but suffers from fallen archness. Labored jokes, forced characters and clumsy comedy make this one of the more tiresome 90 minutes you could spend.

RE:Thought Provoking
Well-cast, well-acted, a thought-provoking play about religion--the business of religion and the attendant personal and spiritual costs. Fine cast and nice direction. This is a STEAL at $18. Well worth the time and money!

Oh No.
Idiotic writing, terrible performances and a play that drags and drags for 90 minutes. Are they dead? Are they alive? Both at once? Who cares? The play is called " a speculation," but the only thing not speculative is dull it is. Good set, though.

Go!
Not perfect, could use some tightening, but provocative, creative, boundary pushing and wonderfully acted and directed. Its not just about death, but its a trenchant allegory about truth and denial in contemporary society. I expect it will be upsetting to people with unresolved issues surrounding death, but thats a good thing. This is the kind of show that makes you grateful to be in NYC where this kind of thing is happening. Best $18 youll spend so far this year!

RE:Kismet It Ain't
if the subtext of anger or the overt racism isnt enough to turn you off, how about a tone-deaf score, juvenile book and insipid lyrics.
Two musical comedy get hired to write a show in Qatar and then decide to get even for not getting paid by writing a musical about it. Revenge may be the motive, but the laughs on them as theyre revealed as total hacks.
The York should be ashamed of themselves. After "Yank" and "My Vaudeville Man," this is an epic offense and a horrid musical.

RE:Sensational!
Adam Rapp has written a profound piece of uniquely American literature. Performed by a flawless ensemble with brilliant direction and design, this is the best $99 youll spend this year to see all three. Its open seating so get there when the house opens for best seats.
