Shannon Cochran, Estelle Parsons, Angelica Torn, et al. Set for National Tour of August: Osage County

Full casting has been announced for the national tour of Tracy Letts’ multiple award-winning drama, August: Osage County, which will launch in Denver at the Ellie Caukins Opera House, July 24-August 8, 2009.

The show, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, concerns a missing patriarch and the reunion of the Weston clan who must deal with his disappearance in rural Oklahoma. It has won numerous awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and the Drama Desk Award. The show’s creative team includes Todd Rosenthal (sets), Ana Kuzmanic (costumes), Ann G. Wrightson (lights), Richard Woodbury (sound) and David Singer (original music).

In addition to the previously announced Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons as Violet Weston, the cast will include Shannon Cochran as Barbara Fordham, Jon DeVries as Beverly Weston, Libby George as Mattie Fae Aiken, Stephen Key as Little Charles, Emily Kinney as Jean Fordham, Laurence Lau as Steve Heidebrecht, Marcus Nelson as Sheriff Deon Gilbeau, Paul V. O’Connor as Charlie Aiken, Jeff Still as Bill Fordham, DeLanna Studi as Johnna Monevata, Angelica Torn as Ivy Weston, and Amy Warren as Karen Weston.

Parsons, who recently played her role on Broadway, won an Oscar for Bonnie & Clyde, and has received Tony nominations for her work in The Seven Descents of Myrtle, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, Miss Margarida’s Way, and Mornings at Seven.

Following the Denver engagement, the production will play San Francisco’s Curran Theatre, August 11-September 6. It will also play Chicago’s Oriental Theatre February 2-14, 2010, and additional stops will be announced at a later date.
