Kyle Riabko and Blake Bashoff, who currently play Melchior and Moritz in the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening, will take on those roles for the show's upcoming national tour.

The show will have a special pre-tour engagement at San Diego's historic Balboa Theatre, August 15-31, before officially launching at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco on September 4.

Based on the 1891 Frank Wedekind play, and set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the timeless story of teenage self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers.

The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening features music by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer, and choreography by Bill T. Jones. The design team includes Christine Jones (set), Susan Hilferty (costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), and Brian Ronan (sound).

The musical will later play in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Tempe, Houston, Tampa, Cleveland, Columbus, Des Moines, East Lansing, St. Louis, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C, Toronto, Boston, and Chicago.
