Film, television, and stage star Lou Diamond Phillips will take over the role of King Arthur in the national tour of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot beginning in September 11 at the Royce Hall at UCLA in Los Angeles. He replaces Michael York, who originated the role on tour.

Phillips received a Tony Award nomination, a New York Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Theatre World Award for his performance as the King of Siam in the 1996 Broadway revival of The King and I. Next month, he will star in a revival of Aaron Sorkin's A Few Good Men at the Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas. He is well known for his work in such films as La Bamba, Stand and Deliver, Young Guns, and Courage Under Fire, as well as in such TV series as 24, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Numb3rs.

Camelot is directed by Glenn Casale. It also stars Rachel York as Guenevere and James Barbour as Lancelot, with Shannon Stoeke as Mordred, Tim Winters as Pellinore, Eric Anderson as Merlyn, and Tavis Danz as Young Arthur, The creative team includes Dan Mojica (choreography), Craig Barna (musical direction), John Iacovelli (set design), Julie Ferrin (sound design), and Tom Ruzika (lighting design).
