It is night time in the Strait of Gibraltar. A Russian freighter fights through a perilous storm to answer a distress call. Its rescue mission soon turns into a salvage operation as the lifeless forms of Moroccan refugees are hauled on deck; body upon body. There is one survivor. No one will claim the dead. In a series of unforgettable images, a freighter's captain seeks a port to unload its unwanted human cargo, a doctor struggles to save lives, and a couple sees their love suspended between two worlds.
