This six-time Tony Award-winning musical took New York by storm in 2005 and was hailed by the New York Times as "the most intensely romantic score of any musical since West Side Story and by the Chicago Tribune as "the most beautiful score written for the musical theater in 20 years."

The Light In The Piazza tells the story of Clara, a 26 year old woman with the mental and emotional capacity of a 12 year old, and her mother Margaret. On a trip together to Florence, Clara falls in love with a young Italian boy, forcing Margaret to weigh Clara's newfound happiness against her own cynicism and contemplate a love that transcends language, culture, and circumstance.

The Canadian premiere production is presented by Acting Up Stage Company and features: Patty Jamieson (Shaw Festival), Jacquelyn French (The Boys In The Photograph), Christina Gordon (Stratford Festival), Jeff Lillico (Soulpepper), Lee MacDougall (Stratford Festival), Tracy Michailidis (Broadway's Beauty and the Beast), Michael Torontow (Hairspray), Becca Zadorsky and Juan Chioran (Stratford Festival).
