John Maclachlan Gray and Eric Peterson have received accolades for Billy Bishop Goes to War, the musical for which they both penned the lyrics and Gray composed the music. It follows the life of Billy Bishop, a famous Canadian fighter pilot deemed a hero upon returning from World War 1. This praiseworthy Canadian play, one of the most widely-produced in history, has been performed internationally including on and off Broadway in New York City. The musical has received the Chalmers Award as well as the Governor General's Award for English Drama.
