The Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s production of Stephen Sondheim, Bert Shevlove, and Larry Gelbart’s musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, will play Toronto in 2010, as part of Mirvish Productions’ 2010/2011 subscription season. Tony and Olivier Award winner Des McAnuff will direct.

The musical tells the story of the Roman slave Pseudolus who yearns for his freedom, while his young master pines for the girl next door. In exchange for his freedom, Pseudolus promises to find a way to unite the two young lovers.

The Stratford production starred Bruce Dow, and later Sean Cullen in the role of Pseudolus. Casting for the Toronto run has not been announced.
