Tony nominee Louise Pitre will star in the Canadian premiere of the musical The Toxic Avenger, to be presented by Dancap Productions Inc. at The Music Hall in Toronto, October 20-January 3, with an opening set for October 31.

John Rando will direct, with the cast also featuring Evan Smith as Melvin Ferd the Third, Brittany Gray as Sarah, and Daren A. Herbert and Jamie McKnight in multiple roles. The musical — featuring book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, with music by Bon Jovi’s David Bryan — focuses on an aspiring earth scientist tossed into a vat of radioactive goo who becomes New Jersey’s superhero, The Toxic Avenger. Rando also directed the New York production of The Toxic Avenger, currently playing Off Broadway at New World Stages.

Pitre, who will play the dual roles of Mayor Babs Belgoody and Ma Ferd, was Tony-nominated for her performance as Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! Her many other credits include portraying Edith Piaf, in three different productions of Piaf and Fantine in Les Miserables. She will also be performing this September at Carnegie Hall in Kristina, a concert version of the musical by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
