George Wendt, Stephanie Pitsiladis, Erica Peck to Star in Hairspray at Charlottetown Festival

George Wendt, Stephanie Pitsiladis, and Erica Peck will star in the musical Hairspray, when it performs at Canada’s Charlottetown Festival, playing the Homburg Theatre at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, September 8-October 9.

Wendt is playing Edna Turnblad, a role he played on Broadway. He also starred in the West End and Broadway productions of Art, and the national tour of 12 Angry Men. He is best known for playing Norm Peterson in the popular television series, Cheers, which earned him six Emmy Award nominations. His film credits include Forever Young, Guilty By Suspicion, and Fletch.

Pitsaldis will play Tracy Turnblad, and Peck will play Penny Pingleton.

Based on the John Waters film of the same name, the musical features music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan.
