Brent Carver, Martha Henry, Darko Tresnjak, et al. Added to Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s 2011 Season

Darko Tresnjak will make his directorial debut at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 2011, staging Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus. In addition to this news, the company has announced that long-time Festival veterans Brent Carver, Martha Henry, Lucy Peacock will be returning to the theater in the coming year.

Carver will appear in two musicals next season. He will play Merlyn and Pellinore in Camelot, to be directed, as previously announced, by Gary Griffin and starring Geraint Wyn Davies as King Arthur. Carver will also play Pontius Pilate in Des McAnuff’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Henry will appear at the theater playing Margaret in Richard III, which will be directed by Miles Potter and feature the gender-blind casting of Seana McKenna in the title role. Other new casting for the production includes Gareth Potter, who will play Richmond. Potter will also play the title role in Michel Trembley’s Hosanna.

Peacock will join Davies, Janet Wright and Tom Rooney in The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Frank Galati. The theater has also announced that Andrea Runge will play Anne Page in the production, in addition to playing Viola in Twelfth Night, directed by McAnuff.

Other new casting includes Evan Buliung, who will appear as Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath and Roger in John Mighton’s The Little Years; and Cara Ricketts will play Ruth in The Homecoming and Maria in Twelfth Night.
