Kelly Devine, Eric Peterson, Morris Panych, Louise Pitre, et al. Nominated for Dora Mavor Moore Awards

Nominations for the the 31st annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, honoring excellence in the performing arts in Toronto, have been announced. The awards will be presented in a ceremony hosted by Jian Ghomeshi on Monday, June 28 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in the Bluma Appel Theatre.

Dancap Productions Inc.’s The Toxic Avenger Musical received five nominations, including for Outstanding Production of a Musical; actors Louise Pitre, Daren A Herbert, and Evan Smith; and choreographer Wendy Seyb.

Eric Peterson received three nominations, one for his lead role in Billy Bishop Goes to War and the other two for his supporting performances in Of the Fields, Lately and Hamlet. Other notable nominations include Kelly Devine for her choreography for Rock of Ages and Morris Panych for his direction of Parfumerie.

Additional shows with multiple nominations include Theatrefront’s The Mill (7), Necessary Angel’s Hamlet (6), Tarragon Theatre’s If We Were Birds (5), Aluna Theatre’s La Comuniòn (5), DVxT Theatre’s The Turn of the Screw (5), Acting Up Stage Company’s The Light in the Piazza (4), BirdLand Theatre and Talk is Free Theatre’s Assassins (4), Soulpepper Theatre Company’s Parfumerie (4), and Tarragon’s Courageous (4).
