Jersey Boys‘ Jeremy Kushnier, Des McAnuff, Sergio Trujillo, and More Receive Dora Nominations

Nominations for the 2009 Dora Awards, honoring excellence in the performing arts in Toronto, have been announced. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Winter Garden Theatre on June 29, to be written by Briane Nasimok and directed by Vinetta Strombergs. Jian Ghomeshi will host.

Dancap Productions’ presentation of Jersey Boys received seven nominations, including for Outstanding Production of a Musical, director Des McAnuff, choreographer Sergio Trujillo, and actors Jeff Madden, Jeremy Kushnier, Michael Lomenda, and Quinn VanAntwerp.

Other notable nominations include Jeremy Sams for his direction of The Sound of Music (which also picked up an Outstanding Production of a Musical nod), the touring production of The National Theatre of Scotland’s Black Watch, and actress Paula Brancati for her work in Dog sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead.
