Theater will include Dash Arts' production of Tim Supple's One Thousand and One Nights; Gareth McLaren's production of >Andormache; Brigitte Haentjens' production of Tout Come Elle (Just Like Her); and LU XUN Blossoms, co-produced by Theatre Smith-Gilmour and the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre.
Dance programs will include Akram Khan's Confluence; the National Ballet of Canada's co-production of Christopher Wheeldon's Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, and TAJ, a new dance-theater piece directed by Tom Diamond, written by John Morrell, and featuring Lisa Ray and Kabir Bedi.
The event, A Musical Monday, will be held on Monday, June 13. The event will be hosted by Sharon Matthews and Shawn Hitchins, and will also include performances by some of Canada's finest musical theater performers.
Other musicians who will take part in the festival will include Grammy Award winner k.d. lang, The Kronos Quartet, Dominic Mancuso, The Belle Brigade, Natacha Atlas, George Sawa, Hakim, and Nitin Sawhney.
Additional events will include readings by such authors as Joyce Carol Oates, Ann Patchett, Geraldine Brooks, and Jeanette Winterson, and the world premiere of David Levine's performance piece Habit.
