Two of acclaimed writer-director Robert Lepage’s works will receive their Toronto premieres this fall.

The Canadian Stage Company will present Ex Machina’s The Andersen Project (Bluma Appel Theatre, October 21-30), written and directed by Lepage and performed by Yves Jacques. The one-man show follows an artist who has been commissioned to write the libretto for a children’s opera based on fairy-tales by Hans Christian Andersen.

Eonnagata, created and performed by Lepage, French ballerina Sylvie Guillem and British choreographer Russell Maliphant, will play the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, on November 18 and 19. This Ex Machina production tells the story of Charles de Beaumont, Chevalier d’Éon, an 18th -century French diplomat, writer, and spy. The production features lighting by Michael Hulls, costumes by the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen, and sound design by Jean-Sébastien Côté.
