Two Unrelated Plays By David Mamet: Keep Your Pantheon and School

Two Unrelated Plays By David Mamet: Keep Your Pantheon and School
Saw these 2 plays in previews Sun., Sept. 20. Sad to say that even with the peerless Brian Murray playing the lead in "Keep Your Pantheon" it was one of the bleakest afternoons I have ever spent in the theater! For the first time--ever, there is nothing good that I can say about this production: writing absolutely pathetic, direction lackluster, acting the performers showed up for the performance, visually I should have shut my eyes from the start. Mamet & my dear Atlantic Theater Company have sunk to an all time low. Pity.

White People

This is a very strong string of monologes not a play that is performed by some very talented actors. The ideas voiced are present in many of us "white" people--whether we care to believe it or not. The reviewer, above, Don Bacalzo doesnt actually review the play as voice his own, rather mixed up oinions or, perhaps, guilty feelings. The productions subject, is not outworn and cliched. Rather, it is Mr Bacalzo who needs further lessons in how to write reviews.

One nay vote for November

I go to the theater often, am not easily offended, and almost always find some good feature in any show. "November" was one of the worst plays that I have ever seen. It was also one of the least interesting Mametomes. Thank goodness the Atlantic Theater did not produce this one. And Nathan Lane was at the nadir of his art in this fiasco.
