A mixed repertoire performance including the works of George Balanchine and Texas Ballet Theater's Artistic Director Ben Stevenson. George Balachine's Theme and Variations, with its glorious choreography and glittering costumes is a vision of the Imperial Ballet in its heyday at the Maryinksy Theatre. Classical, Romantic, and modernist all at once and demanding rigorous technical precision, it has been said that Theme and Variations was the "niece" of The Sleeping Beauty - bringing 19th century ballet to the 20th and now into the 21st. With music by Tchaikovsky. Rated by The Dallas Morning News as the top dance performance of 2007, Texas Ballet Theater offers an encore performance of Ben Stevenson's acclaimed Mozart's Requiem. A moving tribute to the armed forces featuring the men of TBT, Mozart's music comes alive and grieving moments give way to joy, affirmation, majesty, even frenzy.
