SoBe Arts to Present the World Premiere of Carson Kievman’s HAMLET Soundtheater/Opera

SoBe Arts will present the world premiere of composer Carson Kievman’s HAMLET Soundtheater/Opera, February 24-March 11 at the Little Stage Theater. John Yaffé will conduct.

The final commission by legendary producer Joseph Papp, whose death shortly after the work was completed caused it to remain unperformed, HAMLET Soundtheater/Opera is interwoven with spiritual and sexual conflicts. It challenges boundary lines, and is multi-dimensional in its cultural and musical reference points.

The cast will feature baritone Kenneth Mattice (Hamlet), Meagan Brus (Ophelia), bass Richard Zuch (Claudius), soprano Danielle Krause (Gertrude), Richard Cassell (Polonius), tenor Justin John Moniz (Horatio), Jeffrey Wienand (Laertes), Enrique Estrada (Rosencrantz), David Schnell (Guildenstern), Jillian Staffiera (the Player Queen), Kunya Rowley (Marcellus), Enrique Coizeau (Cornelius), and John Cabrali (Fortinbras).

Lighting design will be by Robert Perry.
