Sophie Tucker: Last of the Red Hot Mamas returns to Sarasota. The FST hit show has enjoyed several successful runs since it originally premiered in February 2000. The original production in 2000 ran for more than 100 performances. The show returned in the summer of 2002 for a 3-week run.
Brassy and bawdy, Tucker often seemed larger than life, and her songs and
concerts reflected that image. Catapulted to fame after an arrest for lewd
behavior on-stage, Tucker is often identified with the songs "Fifty Million
Frenchmen Can't Be Wrong," "Give My Regards to Broadway," and, most
especially, "Some of These Days," which became her signature song.
Kathy Halenda plays the title role.
