WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

William Finn, the composer of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee again takes us on a wonderful journey involving love, life, family and laughter. Gordon Schwinn, a talented songwriter, works at his piano to meet a deadline. Gordon must write a song about spring for a children's television entertainer, Mr. Bungee a human-sized frog. He takes a break from his writing and meets his agent Rhoda at a restaurant for pasta. During lunch, Gordon clutches his head and falls face first into his meal. Gordon is taken to the hospital and learns that he has a serious condition that threatens his life. While in the hospital, Gordon contemplates his situation. His greatest fear is dying with his most important songs still inside of him. From a hospital bed, while in a coma, and through hallucinations that include the homeless, crazy preachers, heartless doctors, horses, as well as his nemesis, Mr. Bungee, he finally begins writing his songs. While gaining a new perspective and re-evaluating what he has, Gordon begins to appreciate the people and relationships in his life.
