FST Announces 2008-2009 Mainstage and Cabaret Seasons

Florida Studio Theater has announced its 2008-2009 Mainstage and Cabaret seasons.

The Mainstage season will open with A Murder, A Mystery & A Marriage, October 1-November 28, a musical by Aaron Posner and James Sugg which is based on the short story by Mark Twain. Michael Hollinger’s Opus, December 3-January 30, explores the stresses of a string quartet preparing for a televised ceremony at the White House. Jose Rivera’s Boleros for the Disenchanted, February 4-April 3, travels from 1953 Puerto Rico to contemporary America with the story of an immigrant couple and their love for each other. Black Pearl Sings!, April 8-May 30, is a new piece by Frank Higgins.

The Cabaret season will include Steppin’ Out, October 21-January 3, featuring Irving Berlin favorites like “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “Anything You Can Do,” “Cheek to Cheek,” and “God Bless America”; Larry Deckel and John Leicht will roll back to the 1950s in Hula Hoop Sha-Boop, October 21-January 3, with musical arrangements by John Tanner; and Laughing Matters ’09, March 24-June 6, developed by Rebecca Langford, Joseph Matheson, Chris Friday, and Jim Prosser, will be an evening of comedy satire on our current culture and politics.
