Four-time Tony nominee Raúl Esparza will teach a theater workshop to participants in the YoungArts Miami regional program at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Peacock Education Center in the Knight Concert Hall on July 13 from 3:30 – 5:00pm. The workshop is only open to Miami-Dade County high school students.

The workshop will give participants the chance to learn the art of acting a song, as they present two songs and receive feedback about their work from Esparza.

Esparza received Tony nominations for Speed-the-Plow, The Homecoming, Company, and Taboo, with other Broadway credits including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cabaret, and The Rocky Horror Show. He had a reoccurring role on Pushing Daises and appeared in Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take.

Participants should bring sheet music for two songs that they have prepared (if possible one by Stephen Sondheim) for the piano accompanist that will be provided. There are a limited number of spots available in each class; reservations are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis.

Students may register for this Spotlight Workshop by e-mailing miami@youngarts.org or calling 305-377-1140, extension 1309.
