Caldwell Theatre has announced the two pieces which will be part of its 2010 summer season.

The season will open with Bob Clyman’s Secret Order, to run July 7 – August 1. Tom Bloom will direct the production, which will feature Gordon McConnell. The play focuses on what happens when a brilliant young researcher, who believes he has found a cure for cancer, is recruited by a renowned laboratory.

The second production will be the world premiere of Joel Gross’ The Comfort of Darkness (August 11-September 5), which is based on Dr. Anton Mesmer’s historical attempts to cure a young pianist of her blindness. Robert Cuccioli will direct and star in the production. Additional casting for both productions will be announced at a later date.

The creative teams will include Tim Bennett (scenic design) and Albert Arroyo (costume design), along with Tom Salzman and Chris Hill, who will serve as lighting designers for Secret Order and The Comfort of Darkness, respectively.
