Florida Studio Theatre’s 2008 Summerfest Season will play May 28-August 10 in the Keating Theatre with a music-filled tribute, a hysterical satire, and a tale of love reborn.

The Summerfest season will open with Ted Swindley’s Always…Patsy Cline (May 28-June 15), a tribute to Cline’s rise to legendary stardom told through personal letters shared with her best friend and biggest fan, Louise. This production will star Christine Mild as Patsy Cline and Joy Hawkins as Louise. Also on stage, the live band will include Jim Prosser on Piano, Skip Ellis on Rhythm & Steel Guitar, Chad Dance on Bass, and Peter Leon on drums.

Charles Ludlam’s hysterical romp The Mystery of Irma Vep (June 25-July 13) satirizes Wuthering Heights, Hitchcock’s Rebecca, and The Mummy’s Curse to explore a mystery in this quick change marathon of two actors portraying eight classic characters. This production will star Patrick Noonan as Quinton and Brad DePlanche as Ludlam. Jim Helsinger will direct.

The Summerfest season will close with Kathleen Clark’s Southern Comforts, July 23-August 10, a late-in-life love story about a caustic old widower brought back to life by a widow with a honeyed accent. Casting will be announced at a later date.
