Tony Walton will direct and design Asolo Repertory Theatre’s production of George Bernard Shaw’s The Devil’s Disciple, to run March 20-May 24.

The play is set in New Hampshire during the American Revolution, where self-professed “devil’s disciple” Dick Dudgeon has rejected Puritan values, only to have his supposed lack of morals tested when soldiers mistakenly arrest him rather than a local reverend.

The cast will include Brent Bateman, David Breitbarth, James Clarke, Dan Donohue, Douglas Jones, Heather Kelley, James Leaming, Demario McGrew, Carolyn Michel, Steven O’Brien, Kevin O’Callaghan, Dolph Paulsen, Michele Trachtenberg, and David Yearta. Matthew Parker will design sound, with lighting by James D. Sale.

Walton previously directed The Devil’s Disciple for New York’s Irish Repertory Theatre. He designed the sets for Asolo Rep’s A Tale of Two Cities, which went on to a Broadway run earlier this season. He has received 16 Tony Award nominations for his Broadway sets and/or costumes, winning for his work in Pippin, House of Blue Leaves, and Guys and Dolls. He won an Oscar for All That Jazz and an Emmy for Death of a Salesman.
