Nilo Cruz’s Color of Desire to Premiere at Actors’ Playhouse as Part of 2010-2011 Season

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Nilo Cruz’s The Color of Desire will receive its world premiere at the Actors’ Playhouse in Coral Gables, October 6-November 7, according to a report in The Miami Herald.

Set in Havana in 1960, the play is about an American businessman and a young actress in a rapidly changing Cuba. Cruz won the Pulitzer for his play, Anna in the Tropics.

The theater’s season will also include Lionel Bart’s musical Oliver! (November 17-December 26); William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s tuner The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (January 19-February 13); Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama August: Osage County (March 9-April 10); and The 39 Steps (July 13-August 21), adapted from the Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name. The season will also include a musical, to be announced, which will run July 13-August 21.
