Angelica Torn will star in the world premiere of Shirley Lauro’s The Radiant, to be presented by the New Theatre in Coral Gables, March 25-April 17. Ricky J. Martinez will direct.

The play follows the tempestuous, dramatic life of Marie Curie (played by Torn), one of the world’s first recognized woman scientists, whose discovery and isolation of radium earned her two Nobel Prizes and revolutionized science forever, as she ushered in “The Atomic Age” and the first cure for cancer.

The cast will also include Stephen S. Neal, Hana Kalinski, and RJ Seikaly.

Torn is the daughter of Rip Torn and the late Geraldine Page. She starred on Broadway in Side Man and her many other stage credits include Vivat Vivat Regina, Death and the Maiden, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and From Riverdale to Riverhead. She most recently appeared in the Actors Studio production of Anna Christie and will, as recently reported, reprise her performance in the show at a special benefit on February 7.
