Brian Dykstra, Matthew Carlson to Star in John Logan’s Red at Rep St. Louis

Brian Dykstra will play Mark Rothko with Matthew Carlson as Ken in the Repertory of St. Louis production of John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play, Red, to be presented September 7-October 2. Steven Woolf will direct.

The play exposes the tormented mind of abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko. As he nears the completion of a series of murals for New York’s famed Four Seasons Restaurant, the questions of a young assistant force Rothko to examine both his motives for creation and his place in the pantheon of great artists.

The production team will include Michael Ganio (set designer), Dorothy Marshall Englis (costume designer), Phil Monat (lighting designer), Rusty Wandall (sound designer), and Jeffrey Carter (music consultant).
