Gary Griffin to Direct Musical Saved! in Kansas City Rep’s 2010-2011 Season

Kansas City Rep has announced the plays and musicals that will be part of its 2010-11 season, which will begin with Saved! (September 10 – October 3). With music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and a book and lyrics by John Dempsey and Rinne Groff, this show, based on the hit movie of the same name, will be directed by Gary Griffin.

The season will continue with Lydia Diamond’s Harriet Jacobs (October 22 – November 21). Jessica Thebus will direct this adaptation of Jacobs’ Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. KC Rep will wind down 2010 with its 13th anniversary production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol (November 19 – December 26), to be directed by Kyle Hatley.

In the new year, the theater will present Another American: Asking and Telling (January 14 – February 6), Marc Wolf’s solo show about the government’s “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” and Annie Baker’s Off-Broadway hit, Circle Mirror Transformation, (February 18 – March 20), which will also be directed by Hatley.

The theater’s season will be rounded out with either Cabaret or A Streetcar Named Desire (March 18 – April 10), to be directed by Rosen, and with Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt (April 22 – May 22), adapted and directed by David Schweizer.
