Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday will reprise the role of Effie White in The St. Louis Muny’s premiere production of the musical Dreamgirls, July 16-22.

The show, co-written by Tom Eyen and Henry Krieger, tells the story of a popular singing group torn apart by professional and personal rivalries. Holliday won the 1982 Tony Award, among other honors, for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in the original Broadway production.

She also earned the 1983 Grammy Award for Best Female Performance, Rhythm and Blues for her rendition of the show’s hit song, “And I Am Telling You (I’m Not Going.)”
