Opera Theatre of St. Louis has announced its schedule for the summer of 2010, which will include a new production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s A Little Night Music, to be directed and designed by Isaac Mizrahi. Stephen Lord will conduct the production, which will be part of the company’s repertory June 6-19. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Mizrahi is best known as one of the world’s leading fashion designers. On Broadway, he’s designed costumes for The Women, Barefoot in the Park and The Threepenny Opera. Additionally, he’s appeared at Joe’s Pub, and hosted the television shows Isaac and The Isaac Mizrahi Show.

Also on the company’s schedule are Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin (May 29-June 27), Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (May 22-June 26), and the world premiere of The Golden Ticket (June 13-June 26). Adapted by Peter Ash (music) and Donald Sturrock (libretto) from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the opera will feature direction by James Robinson, costume design by Tony Award winner Martin Pakledinaz and scenic design by Bruno Schwengl. Daniel Okulitch will star as Willy Wonka.
