WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

New Jersey Repertory Company's Script-In-Hand New Play Series continues:

July 12: Apostasy by Gino DiIorio, author of Winterizing the Summer House.
A successful Jewish businesswoman spending the end of her life in a comfortable hospice where her only companion is her daughter, becomes fascinated by a black late-night televangelist. She finds his message inspiring and comforting and she writes him, offering to make a sizable donation to his ministry. Much to her surprise, he flies out to visit.

July 19: Home Movies by Mike Folie.
A struggling filmmaker discovers an old home movie of Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe engaged in sex. It could be just the thing to make his film career take off -- if it doesn't cause his marriage to crash and burn first. A dark comedy about celebrity, love, media, and art from the author of Lemonade and The Adjustment.

July 26: Dix Tableaux by Mark Dunn, author of North Fork and Octet, and starring Betsy Palmer.
Dix Tableaux tells the story of the growing friendship between two older women over the course of ten years, as each come together annually to participate in a town museum fundraiser. As Beverly and Addie stand like human statues in a variety of dioramic displays of moments from the history of the town of Dix, they open their hearts to one another, sharing the pain of lives unfulfilled but also lives sustained and nurtured by the joy and hope that come from the annual renewal of the ties of their friendship.

Aug 2: The Million Dollar Fight by D.W. Gregory, author of The Good Daughter.
Bending to pressure from his cash-strapped manager, heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey agrees to a boxing match in way-out-of-the-way Shelby, Montana, population 500 (not counting the sheep). For a $300,000 guarantee, the town fathers plan to capitalize on Dempsey's celebrity to lure oil investors to town, along with, of course, 40,000 paying fans. But when ticket sales stall and rumors fly that Dempsey's manager plans to scuttle the fight, a crusading lady sportswriter emerges as the voice of moral outrage to feed the growing frenzy. And the target of public wrath is the champion himself.

Aug 9: Impossibility Specialist written and performed by Eric Walton.
An electrifying evening of wit, poetry, illusion, mind-reading, story-telling and sleight of hand.

A discussion follows each reading.
